For Immediate Release

Downers Grove, IL October 1, 2019. Nourish for Caregivers, a leading provider of resources to meet the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of family caregivers, is now at the forefront in meeting the needs of Hispanic caregivers. More than a simple translation, the Spanish curriculum recognizes the growing demands placed on Hispanic caregivers.

There are more than 65 million caregivers in the United States, according to Caregiver Action Network, and virtually everyone, at some point in their life, will care for someone in their family. However, among some demographics that role and responsibility weigh heavier. Nearly 20 percent of family caregivers are Hispanic (AARP, Caregiving in the U.S. 2015 Report), and “Hispanic and African-American caregivers experience higher burdens from caregiving and spend more time caregiving on average than their White or Asian-American peers”. (Family Caregiver Alliance, National Center on Caregiving). Nourish for Caregivers focuses on caring for the caregiver by providing practical tools and resources during this time of transition and change.

“This is very exciting for Nourish for Caregivers. It’s been our dream from the beginning to be able to reach out to all caregivers, and this new translation helps to do just that”, replied Deb Kelsey-Davis, co-founder. “We see this new translation better equipping churches to meet caregivers right where they are and helping them move through deeply challenging situations”, furthered Kelly Johnson, co-founder. The Nourish for Caregivers curriculum provides caregivers an outlet for learning, sharing and growing—along with the exchange of ideas, solutions and encouragement—all with a Christ-centered view.

The Spanish translation of the Nourish for Caregiver materials provides this support, addressing topics as varied as Caregiver Stress, the Spirituality of Asking for and Receiving Help, as well as the delicate concerns surrounding End of Life issues.

Nourish for Caregivers provides churches and faith-based organizations with resources to launch an on-going caregiver ministry to support the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of family caregivers. Simple to implement, with powerful and lasting results, Nourish for Caregivers helps faith-based groups equip a lay-lead team to respond to the current crisis facing Americans today – the millions who are juggling the challenges of life, health, careers and caring for a loved one.
