Every Caregiver's Journey Will Result in Changes to
their role, family dynamics, and key relationships which include their loved one.

It's a balancing act!
Rarely is anyone prepared. Whether the changes come on slowly or happen suddenly, balancing the demands of family life, careers, changes in a loved one's health/memory will eventually take its toll.
The realities we cannot ignore...
- There's no such thing as a perfect family
- Communication, as hard as it may be, is critical
- Personalities are not something we can control
- It may feel otherwise, but you are doing the best you can
- Honor will come into conflict with personal beliefs
- Finances, physical capabilities or distance must be acknowledged
You are not alone. There are resources to support you.
Caregiving can place a strain on marriages.
A beautiful expression of family love is caring for those around us in need, particularly those in our own families. Aging parents and children with special needs, in particular, require extra care; at times this can put a strain on marriages, family resources, and so on. The advice here from For Your Marriage, an initiative of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, encourages and counsels those who do the holy work of caring for others on a regular basis.
